Dust Devils at Roddy Tree's Lazy Day Canteen

Built around the award-winning, mature songwriting of Kevin Higgins, and representing Texas with their original southern-rockin', genre-ben din' “Farm-to-Market Rock'n'Roll” style of music, The Dust Devils once again state their independence from hype and trends. With the 2007 release of their third album, Change in the Weather, (Little Train Records), the Dust Devils combine diversity with raw talent, allowing them to move about freely on the musical landscape. Add to that the visual and musical advantage of a male and female fronting the band, and you have a winning combination all the way around.

Higgin’s solo CD won “Album of the Year” at the 2000 Hill Country Music Awards. Higgins would go on to become a 2000 Kerrville “New Folk” Finalist later that year, earning the band a spot on the Main Stage at the 2001 Kerrville Folk Festival. Critics have compared Higgins' songwriting to that of Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, Patterson Hood, and Red Stegall. "...the sound of the South never went away - it just got better with age..." (4-1/2 star review) -(AllMusicGuide.com).

Barbara Malteze,(vocals/keyboards/mandolin), continues to make waves in Texas, as she accepted the honor of "Female Vocalist of the Year" for two years in a row at the 2006 & 2007 Texas Music Awards, a feat of repetition that no other artist has accomplished thus far.

“The newest member of the band, Will Owen Gage, guitarist extraordinaire will be a pleasant surprise for anyone who hasn’t seen them lately. Will is a guitar prodigy that has been blowing audiences away for several years,” says Keith Asbury owner of Lazy Days Canteen.

The fans have been describing The Dust Devils as "the Led Zeppelin of Texas", because the band has a distinct way of "genre bending." They can lay down a hot honky tonk number; a ripping 70's rocker; then a bluegrass groove; scream thru a blues tune; caress a ballad...you never know what to expect with this group. And they do it all with energy, feel, abandon and talent. This is Americana at it's best...no one else is kickin' up dirt this hard, creating the real melting pot that folks call "Texas music."

The date is Saturday, December 5th & the music begins at 9:00 p.m. The cover charge for Saturday’s show is $10 & includes 1st drink; 17 and under admitted free.

Lazy Days Canteen, located at Roddy Tree Ranch Resort, serves cold Texas and Mexican beer and Texas wine exclusively. It is one mile from the Ingram Dam at Roddy Tree Ranch.
