Bluebonnet Music & Fine Art Festival 2009

The Historic Main Street Association and the Uptown Marble Arts Alliance of Marble Falls, TX in conjunction with GTT Entertainment proudly present the redesigned Bluebonnet Music & Fine Art Festival to be held in downtown Marble Falls, TX on March the 27, 28, & 29th. The festival has three parts and will begin with a Friday evening presentation of PIANORAMA in the beautifully restored Uptown Marble Theater on Main Street. Saturday starts off with the annual art competition “Paint the Town”. More than 40 artists will be painting scenes of the Main Street area during the day as the music festival starts up at 1 PM leading up to headliner “PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE”. Cornell Hurd’s Big Ol’ Band will close the night with an old style street dance. And then on Sunday from 11-3, there will be a silent auction of the paintings produced the day before for the competition, which carries a $1000 first prize. Festival foods and drinks will be available as well as great shopping on Main Street..

The PIANORAMA on Friday evening starts at 8:00 PM at The Uptown Marble Theater and will showcase the incredible keyboard talents of Johnny Nicholas, Danny Levin, Floyd Domino, and Riley Osborne with four pianos on one stage. Tickets are $12 advance general admission, $15 at the door, and $25 for limited reserved table seating and are available by phone at 830-693-9996, or at the R-Bar & Grill, 904 3rd St, Marble Falls, TX.

Saturday begins with the “plein aire” artists taking to the streets. This French phrase is used to describe paintings that have been created chiefly outdoors, rather than in a studio. Their entries will be turned in for judging Saturday by 5:00 and after the winners are announced at 6:30, the silent auction begins and continues until Sunday at 3 pm when final bids are closed. The Music Festival kicks off at 1:00 PM on the outdoor stage with a diverse selection of Texas and Americana Artists. The Larry Salinas Trio will open the festival followed by Soul Review with Debbi Walton and Friends. Mike Blakely Y Los Yahoos brings his trio to the stage next to be followed by Geronimo Trevino and Claude “Butch” Morgan up from San Antonio. Next up is hometown “Nashville Star” finalist John Arthur Martinez who will warm up the crowd for the headliner PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE, and finally Cornell Hurd’s Big Ol’ Band will finish up the Saturday festivities with an old fashion street dance. Tickets for the Music Festival are $12 in advance and $15 day of show. For more information and advance tickets to the Saturday music & street dance go to www.bluebonnetmusicfestival.com or call 830-693-7383.

On Sunday the silent auction of the paintings produced during the Paint The Town competition will continue in the art tent from 11-3 PM. Other activities feature a visual art stroll of the 40+ large scale sculptures located throughout the Historic Marble Falls Main Street area. There will also be a 2 PM concert in the Uptown Marble Theater by Will Taylor & Strings Attached performing the music of the Beatle’s Abbey Road and Sgt. Peppers. Ticket info is same as above for PIANORAMA.
