As we roll into fall, New Braunfels stands tall as a great place to be in both the fall and winter.Wurstfest is an annual 10 day festival that pays homage to the German culture, with a highlight on sausage, beer, fun and games. This year Wurstfest will be held starting Friday, October 29 and ending Sunday, November 7. If you have not yet made plans to come to New Braunfels for this great event, we still have plenty of cottages and RV sites available. For a small fee there is a service called Wurstwagen that will take you to and from Wurstfest.
In addition to Wurstfest, Gruene Market Days will continue to be held throughout the fall and winter on the third weekend of the month, starting October 15, November 19 and December 17. Nearby Gruene Hall continues to provide great music to our town.
The rivers are still open for business as well. The weather is great, the rivers are full and open for tubing. Please visit our website for links to local river outfitters.
The fall and winter provides a great time for our northern guests, a.k.a. Winter Texans, to descend on our city to escape the much colder temperatures up north. Here at Hill Country, we welcome hundreds of visitors from Canada, as well as many northern states. More and more people have now heard great things about New Braunfels and are opting to stay here for an extended length of time instead of driving much further to the Rio Grande Valley. With our 2 heated indoor pools and hot tubs, along with loads of activities, Hill Country RV Resort is a great place to spend the winter. Even though Schlitterbahn is now closed for the season, families still are opting to come visit us because of all the activities we now have in place for kids. Our Jumping Pillow and Aero Ball games are now installed, as is our new store. Additionally, we have a great new game room for kids that includes a Wii, Xbox and Playstation3 in addition to several table games- pool, bumper pool, air hockey, shuffleboard and ping pong. Additionally, be sure to visit the historic town of Gruene, Natural Bridge Caverns, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, Snake Farm, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards, nearby San Antonio (Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas) and so much more. We also are a very short drive to both San Marcos and Austin and all the activities those fine cities have to offer.

Getting excited about the holidays? Need a place to host your next party? The Albert Ice House and Dance Hall is offering great rental rates for the months of November & December. Come book your next office, corporate or family holiday party in Albert! The Ice House is available for rental Monday – Wednesday for only $250 (that includes the venue and 1 bartender). The Dance Hall is available for rental Sunday – Friday for only $500 (that includes the venue and 1 bartender). Alcohol would be purchased through the Ice House and you can bring your own food or let Riley’s BBQ do the catering for you!
