DIP-DIP AND SWING 2010
Great Castell Kayak Race in First place!

The Great Castell Kayak Race is preparing for the eighth annual charity fundraiser for Chemo Sabe, a cancer outreach nonprofit. The race kicks off Saturday morning at the bridge near the Llano River RV park, where it has begun each year. Registration time is 6:30 to 8:30 AM sharp and includes a safety talk and paddling demonstration by the Expedition School of Austin, Texas. Entry fee is $45 dollars and includes tee shirt, bandanna, free camping at RiverSounds and snacks. There are prizes, music and spectator viewing at Riversounds where the race ends. There will be food at the finish line and lots of shade.

The race is held every first Saturday in June, founded by Jerialice Arsenault, a musician who lost many family members and her sister to cancer. She continues to advocate for community support and patient navigation in the rural Texas hill country. Her mission is to bring healing thru music, while helping people find medical, insurance and social programs to support them during chemo.

The Great Race is Texas biggest kayak race for charity and brings many people to the Llano river basin, to enjoy the beauty of the Llano river basin while paddling down 12 miles of a historic river that contributes to the Colorado rivers' downstream waters. There is also a river cleanup sponsored by LCRA Employees' United Charities, who provide bags and brags! There will be prizes and family fun. Camping is limited so sign up early to get your free camp spot right at the finish line. If you need RV space, contact The Llano River RV Park at 866-640-9696 for reservations. The organizers suggest that participants book a spot at the RV park to cut down on traffic and parking time, camping is available.
